RORC team finish 7th overall and first European Team RORC Commodore Andrew McIrvine was delighted with their 5th place result in the 11th and final race of an absorbing contest for the New York Yacht Club 'Invitational Cup' sponsored by Rolex and held in Swan 42's. "It has been an amazing event and the racing has been really tight all the way through" commented McIrvine "The last race was really tricky but we managed a 5th and ended up as the first European team at 7th overall which we are really delighted with" North American boats filled the first 5 places with the Canadian team skippered by American Terry McLaughlin reversing the positions of two years ago by beating the New York Yacht Club into second place. Annapolis Yacht Club was third and the first non North American entry was from Japan in 6th place one place ahead of the RORC team. "We've had all sorts of conditions throughout the week" said McIrvine "and the New York Yacht Club has to be congratulated on running a fabulous event once again" The RORC entered a team in the inaugural event in 2009 finishing 10th overall.
