COUNTDOWN TO ROLEX COMMODORES’ CUP 2008
With three months to the start of the 9th biennial Rolex Commodores’ Cup on 29th June, team preparations are beginning to really heat up. Organisers, the Royal Ocean Racing Club, expect 14 or 15 three-boat teams to take to the water for this increasingly fiercely contested international competition and challenges are anticipated from Hong Kong, Ireland, France (winners in 2002 and 2006), The Netherlands, Spain and Great Britain (winners in 1996 and 2004), which includes a team representing Scotland. Other teams known to be close to forming are Germany (winners in 1998) and Russia (debutants in 2006). |

23rd March 2008, Race Report - Spectacular Solent Racing – Red Funnel Easter Challenge |

Day three of the Red Funnel Easter Challenge, organised by the RORC, produced some quite stunning Solent racing with plenty of spills and thrills. Finally, after two days of frustration, racing got under way and it was well worth the wait. Louay Habib took a trip out to the combat zone to witness the action.

In the yachting world there are few names bigger than Ben Ainslie and fresh from his record 5th triumph in the Finn Gold Cup in Australia, the double Olympic Gold medallist will be racing this Easter in the Red Funnel Easter Challenge on board the TP52 Henri Lloyd Cutting Edge.

Management changes at the Royal Ocean Racing Club |
|
The Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) today announced the management changes with the appointment of Eddie Warden Owen as its Chief Executive Officer from late February and Ian Loffhagen as the new Racing Manager. Eddie will be responsible for the overall management of all aspects of the Club’s core activities. Ian Loffhagen and Mike Urwin, the Technical Director in charge of the Rating Office, will report to the Chief Executive.
