Sunday 23rd November CLASSES: IRC - see General Conditions, Appendix II
Organised by World Cruising Club under the auspices of the Royal Ocean Racing Club. The Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) is the largest annual trans-ocean event, with 2008 being the twenty-third edition. Whilst the majority of the yachts are cruising yachts there is an IRC Racing Division within the ARC, and an Invitation IRC Racing Division for yachts 60-90ft LOA; in 2008 both IRC Divisions are again to be run under the auspices of the RORC. Following the traditional trade wind route from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean the ARC attracts in excess of 200 yachts. TROPHIES: For all classes
SSS MINIMUM: 34 or STIX MINIMUM 32 and AVS MINIMUM 130-0.002 x m (where m is minimum sailing weight in Kg) ELIGIBILITY: The race is open to monohull yachts between 8.23m and 25.91m (27’-85’) SPECIAL REGULATIONS: The RORC IRC Divisions are ISAF Offshore Special Regulations for Category 1 with RORC prescriptions, and ARC Safety Equipment Requirements LONG DISTANCE COMMUNICATIONS: Yachts must be fitted with a communications system capable of sending an e-mail message whilst at sea (via SSB radio or satellite system). It is strongly recommended that yachts are also fitted with SSB radio to enable participation in the ARC Radio Net during the crossing. ENTRY LIMIT: The ARC is limited to 225 entries; a waiting list is started when the limit is reached. Whilst there is no closing date for entries, potential entrants are urged to submit their entries by May to ensure a place. START: 23rd November
