SSS MINIMUM: 34 or STIX MINIMUM 32 and AVS MINIMUM 130-0.002 x m (where m is minimum sailing weight in Kg)
Boats with age date of 1995 and later will be categorised under STIX only.
Boats with age date before 1995 may be categorised under either STIX or SSSN.
Multihulls - shall exceed 9.15m/30’ LOA Multihull entries will be screened by RORC on an individual basis in conjunction with MOCRA.

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION: The skipper and at least 50% of the crew must have completed (in the yacht in which they will race the Cowes - Madeira Race) in the 13 months preceding the start either:
1. Completed the 2007 Rolex Fastnet Race, or
2. Completed 500 miles of RORC racing including two races of over 150 miles, or
If the yacht is normally kept in a place without reasonable access to RORC racing:
3. One RORC offshore race of over 150 miles plus offshore racing* or a non-stop passage making a total of at least 500 miles proposed in writing and agreed by the RORC, or
4. Other qualifications similar to (3) above proposed in writing and agreed by the RORC
Notes: *To qualify as “offshore racing” a race must be of at least 150 miles duration and include at least one night at sea.
A service yacht may qualify as above or submit written authority from her service establishment.
The acceptance by RORC of any experience qualification does not warrant suitability for the Cowes - Madeira Race.

TRAINING REQUIREMENT: It is the skipper’s responsibility to ensure that the following criteria are met and that copies of Certificates or Letters of Attendance are submitted to RORC.
At least 30% of the crew including the skipper must have completed training to Section 6 of the ISAF Offshore Special Regulations. Appendix G to the regulations provides a model training course. In the 2-Handed class both crewmembers must have received training.
Notes: ISAF Member National Authorities are responsible for approving training in their country.
In the UK the RYA course is the RYA ISAF Offshore Safety Course. The syllabus includes first aid and liferaft training and it should be possible to upgrade existing training by undertaking modules of the Section 6 training course.
The training must have taken place after January 2003.

COPIES OF THESE CERTIFICATES/LETTERS OF ATTENDANCE MUST BE LODGED WITH THE RORC NO LATER THAN THURSDAY 31st JULY.

TRACKING: It will be mandatory for yachts to carry an OC Tracker unit for the duration of the race. A refundable deposit, which may be set against a credit card, may be required.

BRIEFING: A briefing will be held at 1700 on Sunday 10th August in Cowes
