The Cherbourg Race is the last of the UK-based races of the RORC Season’s Points Championship and is very often the decider for the class winners. The race can be won and lost in the escape from the Solent, in the strong tides on the approach to Cherbourg and finally on the last mile along the inside of the breakwater of the Grande Rade.

The last race of the domestic season takes competitors on a dash across the Channel to Cherbourg. This race is often the decider for the annual class winners and therefore still hugely competitive. The race is usually won and lost in the escape from the Solent, in the strong tides on the approach to Cherbourg or in the last mile along the inside of thebreakwater of the Grande Rade. The race is never over until you are motoring in, ready for thelively welcome that awaits all competitors at the Cherbourg Yacht Club.
