RORC AGM

A RORC AGM at the Royal Ocean Racing Club, Cowes, chaired by Commodore Steven Anderson, started at 18.00. The meeting was held on Zoom webinar and attracted over 200 participants. The Commodore presented the final report of his term, followed by the Honorary Treasurer Derek Shakespeare who gave a report on the club finances, then the Vice Commodore James Neville gave a report on the 2021 Sailing Programme.

RORC EGM

An Extraordinary General Meeting was called in accordance with rule 16.1 to discuss matters relating to the finish of the Rolex Fastnet Race from Plymouth to Cherbourg. The meeting was held by Zoom Webinar immediately following the Annual General Meeting with Steven Anderson as Chairman. 378 members registered to attend and 254 participated in the meeting.

There was lively debate for and against the motions and the voting went in favour of the committee and all resolutions were rejected.

  • Resolution a)

That an issue of this importance and significance to the Club should not be decided by the Committee without involving the membership

  • Resolution b)

That the manner in which this matter was conducted was inappropriate for a members club

  • Resolution c)

That the change of course is potentially hazardous and may damage the standing of the Fastnet Race
