The Rolex Middle Sea Race has one of the most spectacular courses of all the classic offshore races. The lap of Sicily takes competitors past the shadow of Mount Etna, through the Strait of Messina, around the active volcano of Stromboli, along the north and west coasts of Sicily down to the island of Lampedusa, off Tunisia, before returning to Valletta and its ancient, massively fortified city walls. It is renowned for its unpredictable and rapidly changing weather as well as the fantastic welcome at the Royal Malta Yacht Club.
